Overview
Hip-hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy takes viewers on a journey through America’s complicated relationship with cannabis—from its cultural roots in jazz and hip-hop to the racially biased laws and mass incarceration that surrounded it.
This project was unique in that the director wanted the graphics to be a central character in the film. A trustworthy source of unbiased information. We played into the government form style of design that feels very official and also relates to the usage of this style in the 1980s. There was an extremely wide range of graphic devices and aesthetic styles needed to tell the story in the most authentic and immersive way.
