CHAINS - DOCUMENTARY
This piece my crew (GM5) made in 2 days for a documentary film contest by AFI. We were given a direction and then
had to make it all over the following 5 days. We won Best Historical Documentary prize. Our piece depicts the true origins
of hip hop music and how slavery affected it's growth. From the origin of the drum beat in Africa with Bambaataa to Uroy
in Jamaica as one of the first "rappers" and onto Kool Herc who took the Jamaican sound to NY and created hip hop
music and the culture in the 70's and 80's.
